San Mateo County 2011 Coastal Cleanup Day Results Are In!

  • 4,178 Volunteers
  • 25,436 lbs. of trash/recyclables collected

Thank you to everyone who came out for Coastal Cleanup Day! You helped remove over 25,000 pounds of trash/recyclables from our beaches, inland waterways, parks and neighborhoods! The 2011 Coastal Cleanup Day proved to be a very successful cleanup event in San Mateo County because of you! Volunteers removed items like plastic bags, cigarette butts and food wrappers as well as large items including couches, tires, and various appliances. All of these items, no matter their size, are potential pieces of marine debris, and volunteers worked hard to prevent thousands of items from washing into our waterways.
