San Mateo County Watershed Map

A watershed is an area of land that drains to a particular waterway, be it a creek, stream, bay, or
ocean. Your neighborhood, school and workplace are all part of a watershed; the roads we drive on and the parks we play in are also part of a watershed. In urban settings water travels more quickly across pavement than in a natural setting. Most of the stormwater runoff in San Mateo County eventually drains into the San Francisco Bay or the Pacific Ocean.
