Spring Cleaning? Many chemicals found in garages, basements, and under sinks are Too Toxic To Trash. San Mateo County has a permanent Household Hazardous Waste facility that accepts these chemicals, along with flourescent light bulbs and batteries, for FREE! Special collection events are also scheduled throughout the county during the year. The dates and times for these collection events can be found on our Calendar of Events.

Banana Slug String Band FREE Musical School Assembly Program Schools Book Now! With a lively combination of music, theater, puppetry & audience participation, the Banana Slugs duo present a musical adventure about storm drains, recycling, & keeping our water clean! Shows are 45 minutes long, are appropriate for grades Pre-K-6, and meet State Content Standards.

Rock Steady Science is presenting Water Pollution Prevention and Your Car to high schools. This is a fifty-minute multimedia, interactive, and hands-on classroom presentation targeted to grades 10–12 in San Mateo County high schools. Topics include watersheds and storm drains, oil and oil filter recycling, littering, and proper car washing, as well as a review of the latest in municipal environmental design for storm water management on streets and parking lots.
