San Mateo Countywide Water Pollution Prevention Program's efforts to reduce CIGARETTE LITTER in the COUNTY!

Cigarette butts are the most littered item in America and around the world, but they don’t have to be!

San Mateo Countywide Water Pollution Prevention Program provided free pocket ashtrays to smokers who agreed to participate in a three to four week anti-littering pilot program.

San Mateo County* residents can recieve a FREE pocket ashtray by email. Send your name and mailing address to PollutionPrevention@co.sanmateo.ca.us and help us keep cigarrette butts off the street and out of our waterways!

*Note - we can only accomodate ashtray requests from San Mateo County residents. These cities are in San Mateo County: Atherton, Belmont, Brisbane, Burlingame, Colma, Daly City, East Palo Alto, Foster City, Half Moon Bay, Hillsborough, Menlo Park, Millbrae, Pacifica, Portola Valley, Redwood City, San Bruno, San Carlos, San Mateo, South San Francisco, Woodside, and Unincorporated County locations.
