Climate Messages That Work

March 24 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

As people working to reduce climate change, we are sometimes discouraged to find that even though many others are also concerned, it’s still difficult to engage them in making the changes needed to avoid massive climate disruption. What can we do to help others get involved? Based on the work of social scientist Anat Shenkar-Oscario, this workshop will offer you some new, more effective strategies to engage others in switching away from fossil fuels.

Using video clips, followed by three discussion periods, you’ll join with others to learn and practice ways to use language that encourages involvement and action. You’ll learn how to craft messages that speak to the listener’s concerns (even if they aren’t your worries), and how to grow climate activism into a larger movement, bringing together varied social groups.

This workshop is for anyone who wants to be more effective in communicating about solutions to climate change. Please invite others to join you in signing up. It’s free; hot drinks, cookies and fruit will be served.
